Project: Royal Thai Army, Rama 9
Location: Rama 9 Road, Bangkok
Specified Isolation Method: Restrained Mounts Spring 3” Deflection.

Royal Thai Army, Rama 9 project in Bangkok is a well know project for the structural isolation system followed the specifies by designer. The mechanical machines such as Chillers, Pumps, Cooling towers are isolated with 3” deflection spring mounts on the floor.
Mason Engineering (Thailand) are greatly experienced in isolating building services (HVAC) and equipment to reduce vibration transmission. We can support the design of plant isolation systems, starting from the source of vibration, through to associated services and structural connections.
The 3inch deflection Restrained Spring Mounts support cooling tower to protection vibration from the machine. The springs supporting the cooling tower are selected to suit the vibration characteristics of the isolated equipment and the building structure – especially floor deflection.
The rubber expansion joint should be installed to reduces or eliminated the fluid frequency from the machine. When fluid is machine around a system, it normally happens as a series of pulses rather than a smooth flow. The nature and frequency of the pulses depends on the machine, but they can have undesirable effects.
Pulses can easily be carried around the building through the pipe network, possibly causing noise and/or vibration problems and sometimes the energy is sufficient to cause damage to the pipes over time.
Mason Engineering (Thailand) can provide your project with full support, whether aiding with product selection or design.
SLR – 3″ DEF, – 100 SERIES
Restrained spring mountings shall have an SLF mounting as described in SLF Specification, within a rigid housing that includes vertical limit stops to prevent spring extension when weight is removed. The housing shall serve as blocking during erection. Installed and operating heights are equal. Restraining Bolts shall have a neoprene bushing between the bolt and the housing. A clearance of 1/4” (6mm) shall be maintained around restraining bolts and the bushing so as not to interfere with the spring action. Limit stops shall be out of contact during normal operation. Since housings will be bolted or welded in position there must be an internal isolation pad. Housing shall be designed to resist all seismic forces. Mountings shall have an OPA preapproval from OSHPD in the state of California certifying the maximum certified horizontal and vertical load ratings. Mountings shall be type SLR as manufactured by Mason Industries, Inc.
SUPER FLEX EXPANSION JOINTS
The SUPERFLEX elastomer was changed from Neoprene to EPDM as most applications are for water service. EPDM is superior to Neoprene in minimizing water swell and resistance to oxygen and ozone aging is outstanding. High temperature tolerance is much better as well.
All lengths were shortened to save space. The steel ring between the twin spheres prevented bulging, allowed for higher pressure ratings, reduced elongation and a higher range of pressures could be accommodated without the use of control rods.
